Brian Hugh Warner’s Open Letter to the Marilyn Manson Band, the Fans, and the Whole Rock Community
To my fellow musicians, to the supporters who supported us during every hardship, and to the international rock scene that gave us a voice—
With a heart full of appreciation, contemplation, and reverence for the amazing adventure we have taken together over the years, I write this letter. What started out as a vision driven by creativity, disobedience, and daring self-expression evolved into something far bigger than I could have ever dreamed. It developed into a movement, a culture, and, for many people worldwide, a haven where uniqueness could flourish without fear of repercussions.
Thank you to all of the former and current Marilyn Manson band members for contributing your skills, enthusiasm, and passion to this remarkable work. Our shared enthusiasm and unwavering dedication constructed every stage we conquered, every album we recorded, and every moment that rocked the foundations of traditional music. Together, we pushed boundaries and produced art that resonated with those who frequently felt ignored. Your devotion, inventiveness, and selflessness helped to define this band’s identity and solidify its status in rock history.
There are just no adequate words to express how grateful I am to the fans for their constant love and support. You continued to be the lifeblood of this trip through every era, controversy, victory, and defeat. You flew across cities and continents to see performances, sang the lyrics louder than the speakers themselves, and used our music as more than just entertainment. For many of you, music served as a shield during trying times, and it has always meant more to me than accolades, charts, or headlines to know that our work could help someone overcome adversity.
You made it possible for daring art to endure and develop. You welcomed tradition in a society that is frequently terrified of anything that goes against it. You stood up for artists’ freedom to express themselves honestly, take risks, and be true to themselves. I was able to develop not only as a musician but also as a person by overcoming pressure, criticism, celebrity, and metamorphosis thanks to that support.
Thank you to the larger rock community for upholding the rebellious spirit that characterizes this genre. Outsiders, visionaries, and those seeking liberation in a society of conformity have always been associated with rock music. Generations of artists who dare to be unique are still motivated by the community’s tenacity. I still feel privileged to have added even one chapter to that continuing history.
In retrospect, I see that this career was never developed by a single person. It was created by the bond between audiences and artists, between suffering and creativity, and between chaos and purpose. People believed in the power of this music, which led to every spotlight, standing ovation, and memorable night on stage.
I am incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed to this story as time goes on. A legacy that cannot be erased includes the wounds, the memories, the successes, and even the hardships.
