The USA vs. Canada game was one of the best things the NHL has seen in years, and now, Rangers forward Matt Rempe has reacted to his teammate J.T. Miller’s fight, despite the fact that he was outmatched by a much larger opponent.

Plenty of fans across the world were revved up after Team USA’s showdown against Canada over the weekend, and with the rematch slated in the 4 Nations Face-Off finale on Thursday, hockey’s passion is ready to skyrocket.

The three fights within the first 10 seconds of the game drew global notice, and fans all over the hockey world are still talking about them.

It wasn’t just fans, though; New York Rangers enforcer Matt Rempe has now given his initial response to the bouts, particularly the one involving his now-Rangers colleague J.T. Miller, who was thoroughly handled by St. Louis’ Colton Parayko.

Given Rempe’s approach since entering the NHL, this reaction should come as no surprise. Even though he’s Canadian, the 6-foot-7 forward clearly supported his teammate’s decision to drop the gloves against a much bigger opponent.

Fighting is one facet of the NHL that attracts a large number of spectators, and when players like Rempe, Ryan Reaves, and the Tkachuk twins go berserk against other teams, it always piques the attention of a larger audience. However, when it occurs in a best-on-best competition for the first time in over a decade, it’s easy to see why Rempe and the rest of the sports world are abuzz.
