Ole Miss Rebels Head Coach Lane Kiffin Announces Temporary Leave for Personal Reasons Lane Kiffin, head coach of the Ole Miss Rebels, has made a shocking announcement: he will walk aside from active coaching duties for a few months. Speaking at a news conference, Kiffin highlighted highly personal reasons for his choice, surprising both fans and the collegiate football community.

Kiffin noted that his brief break is motivated by a desire to prioritise his mental health and family. “This decision was not made lightly,” Kiffin explained. “I’ve always poured my heart and everything into this program, but it’s time for me to stand aside and handle some personal issues that I’ve been ignoring for far too long. Right now, my well-being and that of my family must come first.”

The announcement comes as Ole Miss prepares for a critical stretch of its season. Kiffin, recognised for his strategic brilliance and fierce presence on the sidelines, has been crucial to the Rebels’ recent success. Despite his absence, the program has shown its entire support for the coach.

“We understand and respect Coach Kiffin’s decision,” stated Ole Miss Athletic Director Keith Carter. “His health and family come first, and we will support him while he takes the time he needs. The team remains focused and committed to expanding on the solid foundation he has laid.”

During Kiffin’s absence, defensive coordinator Pete Golding will serve as interim head coach. Players have expressed solidarity with Kiffin, with many flocking to social media to show their support and send encouraging remarks.

Kiffin informed fans that he plans to return stronger and more determined. “This is not goodbye, just see you soon,” he told me. “I appreciate the love and support, and I look forward to getting back to doing what I love.”
