Dear Texas Longhorns family,
As I sit down to write this letter, I’m overcome with gratitude, humility, and pride. My heart is full, and my spirit is rooted in gratitude for the great journey I’ve had as a Texas Longhorn. This letter is more than just a reflection; it is a tribute. A homage to the coaches who believed in me, my teammates who stood by my side, and the fans who encouraged me through every snap, touchdown, and moment of progress.
From the minute I committed to the University of Texas, I felt the weight of tradition—but more importantly, the strength of community. The Longhorns did not just greet me; they embraced me. I was given room to grow as a quarterback and as a man. Despite trials and victories, the Texas spirit never faltered. The response I’ve received from Longhorn fans has been nothing short of remarkable, whether inside DKR, on the streets of Austin, or throughout the nation.
Thank you, Coach Sarkisian and the entire staff, for guiding, challenging, and preparing me for moments bigger than the game itself. You recognized talent and fostered it with patience and determination. Your belief in me formed the competitor I am today, and more importantly, the leader I want to be every day.
To my teammates, you are my brothers. We formed a family through early morning practices, hard game days, and late-night film sessions. Every photo we took together told a narrative, and each huddle reminded me that greatness is never accomplished alone.
To the Longhorn Nation, you are the program’s heartbeat. Your shout in the stands, your persistent allegiance through highs and lows, your pride in that burnt orange and white—it all inspired me. Knowing I was playing not only for myself, but also for everyone of you, made every throw and run more meaningful. You have made this journey unforgettable.
Thank you to the whole Longhorns community—alumni, teachers, students, and supporters from near and far—for establishing a climate that nurtures excellence. I’ve developed here not only as an athlete, but also as a student, teammate, and individual. Your love has made Austin feel like home, and the University of Texas like fate.
As I face new difficulties and responsibilities, remember this: I am carrying the Longhorns with me. This encounter will permanently define my direction and purpose. My name may be Manning, but my heart will always be filled with Texas pride.
