Twin defensive ends Darryll and Mandrell Desir have signed with the Texas A&M Aggies after decommitting from Florida State University, marking a dramatic change in the 2025 college football recruiting landscape. After weighing offers from prestigious programs like Texas and Alabama, this decision was made.
On the defensive line, the Desir brothers, who attended Miami Central High School, have excelled. During his final year, Darryll, who is renowned for his explosive first step and ability to impede backfield plays, recorded 14 sacks. Mandrell, who was praised for his strength and versatility, recorded 20 tackles for loss and 12 sacks. Almost all of the major Power Five schools, including Alabama, Georgia, Penn State, Nebraska, and Miami, extended offers to them as a result of their performances.
Citing their respect for head coach Mike Norvell and the Seminoles’ legendary past, the twins first committed to Florida State earlier this year. Later on, though, they felt that the coaching staff was not giving them enough consideration throughout the hiring process. They choose to start a new chapter with Texas A&M while still expressing respect for Florida State in a joint statement.
The Aggies’ impressive recruiting class, head coach Jimbo Fisher’s vision, and the program’s cutting-edge facilities all played a significant role in their decision to enroll at Texas A&M. “It feels like home in College Station,” Darryll said, highlighting Coach Fisher’s clear development plan and constant contact. Mandrell agreed, highlighting the first-rate facilities and the coaching staff’s well-defined job plans.
Texas A&M’s defense is anticipated to be immediately impacted by the entrance of the Desir twins. The Aggies have immediate gaps on their defensive front after three important defensive lineman left for the NFL. As true freshmen, Darryll and Mandrell are expected to contend for starting positions and contribute their diverse skill sets to the SEC.
This dedication positions Texas A&M as a powerful force in the following seasons by bolstering the defensive lineup and demonstrating the program’s increasing appeal to top players.
