In a significant move for college basketball, former Memphis guard PJ Haggerty has withdrawn from the 2025 NBA Draft and committed to play for Kansas State University. Haggerty, a 6-foot-3 standout, is set to join the Wildcats for the upcoming season, marking his fourth collegiate team in as many years.

During the 2024–25 season at Memphis, Haggerty earned consensus second-team All-American honors and was named the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Player of the Year. He led the AAC with an average of 21.7 points per game, along with 5.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.8 steals over 35 starts. His performance was instrumental in Memphis securing the AAC title and a No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament .

Haggerty’s decision to transfer to Kansas State comes after seeking a lucrative Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deal and assurances of a starting role. While reports indicated he was seeking an NIL package worth at least $4 million, he ultimately accepted a smaller offer to join the Wildcats . Kansas State, under third-year head coach Jerome Tang, finished the previous season with a 16–17 record. Haggerty’s addition is expected to provide a significant boost to the program’s performance in the Big 12 Conference.

Prior to his tenure at Memphis, Haggerty played for TCU and Tulsa, showcasing consistent scoring and playmaking abilities. His move to Kansas State is anticipated to bring veteran leadership and offensive prowess to the Wildcats’ backcourt.

With Haggerty’s commitment, Kansas State aims to rebound from consecutive seasons without an NCAA Tournament appearance and reestablish itself as a competitive force in college basketball.
