Five-star safety Jireh Edwards, one of the top defensive prospects in the 2026 class, has announced that he will make his college commitment on July 5. Edwards, a standout at St. Frances Academy in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, is ranked as the No. 2 safety and No. 21 overall player nationally, according to the On3 Industry Ranking .
Edwards’ final list of schools includes Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Oregon, and Texas A&M. Auburn is considered a strong contender, especially after hosting Edwards for an official visit on May 30. He has also scheduled official visits to Alabama (June 6), Texas A&M (June 13), and Oregon (June 20), while Florida will host him for an unofficial visit on June 3 .
Edwards has expressed particular interest in Auburn, noting the consistent communication and support from the Tigers’ coaching staff. “Auburn will always have that love for me,” he said, highlighting the program’s persistent recruitment efforts .
As the commitment date approaches, Edwards’ decision is highly anticipated, with several top programs vying for his talents. His upcoming visits will likely play a crucial role in his final choice.
