Dear Mizzou family,
As I sit down to put my thoughts into words, I am filled with appreciation and thoughtfulness. My experience with the Missouri Tigers has been nothing short of wonderful. It’s more than just a chapter in my football career; it’s a tale of development, transformation, and profound, heartfelt connection. Today, I’d like to thank you—not only as your quarterback, but as someone whose life has been tremendously influenced by the love and support of this wonderful community.
When I first arrived in Columbia, I was met with wide arms. From the coaching staff and teammates to the loyal fans who packed Faurot Field every Saturday, there was a spirit here that I instantly felt a part of. It wasn’t only about football. It was about family, devotion, and a common desire to create something extraordinary. You believed in me even when I was still settling into my role, and your belief ignited a fire in me that has never gone out.
Thank you to the Missouri Tigers coaching staff for believing in me, challenging me, and leading me through the ups and downs of being an on-field leader. You not only coached me, but you also engaged in my personal development. You recognized potential and worked relentlessly to help me achieve it. Your leadership and vision laid the groundwork for my success, and I plan to apply what I’ve learned far beyond football.
To my teammates—brothers in arms—thank you for every rep, every late night in the film room, and every time we pushed each other to be better. You have impressed me with your tenacity, heart, and steadfast commitment. Every yard gained, every touchdown thrown meant more because I was able to share it with you.
To the fans: wow. What can I say to completely convey your impact? You added enthusiasm, passion, and heartbeat to our team. Whether you were yelling in the stands or cheering us on during tough games, you made us feel like champions. Your support was never conditional; instead, it was consistent, genuine, and strong. I shall never forget the sea of black and gold that carried us through each battle.
