To the amazing city of Edmonton, the Oilers organization, and every single fan who has ever proudly worn the orange and blue—
There are times in a career when you should take a step back and reflect on not only where you’re headed, but also how far you’ve come and who has supported you along the road. Today, I write this letter with a heart full of gratitude and humility, knowing that every step of this journey has been made possible by the constant support of a wonderful community.

When I was drafted in 2015, I was a young kid with a desire and a strong passion for the game. I had no idea how profoundly this city, this team, and its fans would influence my life. Edmonton was more than just the team to which I was selected; it became my home. A location that embraced me with open arms, cheered me on during victories, supported me throughout challenges, and provided me with the opportunity to become not just a better player but also a better person.
To the fans: you are the heartbeat of this franchise. Whether it’s the roar inside Rogers Place or a random “Go Oilers Go” chant heard halfway across the globe, your passion follows us everywhere. Your dedication is unmatched, and I want you to know that we feel it. We hear it. And we play for it.
To my teammates — past and present — thank you for pushing me, for standing by me, and for chasing greatness with me. No player succeeds alone, and I’ve been lucky to share the ice with warriors, leaders, and friends. The memories we’ve made and the battles we’ve fought together will stay with me forever.
To the fans: you are the lifeblood of this franchise. Whether it’s a roar inside Rogers Place or a random “Go Oilers Go” cry heard halfway around the world, your enthusiasm follows us everywhere. Your passion is unparalleled, and I want you to know that we feel it. We hear it. We play for it.
Thank you to my teammates, both past and present, for pushing me, standing by me, and pursuing excellence alongside me. No player can succeed alone, and I’ve been fortunate to share the ice alongside fighters, leaders, and friends. The memories we’ve created and the fights we’ve fought together will be with me forever.
Finally, I want to thank the city of Edmonton for rearing me, believing in me, and allowing me to flourish within its walls. Your cold winters are only matched by your warm hearts, and every time I put on the Oilers jersey, I feel proud to represent a city rich in strength, history, and unwavering hope.
The voyage isn’t over—not even close. We still have mountains to climb, ambitions to achieve, and a Cup to take home. But, despite it all, please know how grateful I am to be a part of this journey with you.
With heartfelt gratitude and steadfast commitment,
Connor McDavid, #97, Captain of the Edmonton Oilers.
