BREAKING: Texas Tech Red Raiders Crowned Nation’s Top Athletic Program of 2025 in Unprecedented All-Sport Domination

LUBBOCK, Texas —

In what many are calling the greatest single-year performance in collegiate sports history, the Texas Tech Red Raiders have been officially crowned the top overall athletic program in the United States for 2025. With unparalleled success across multiple sports, Texas Tech is the only school in the nation to capture a national title, reach the Final Four, compete in the Women’s College World Series, host a softball regional, and appear in a postseason bowl game — all in the same academic year.

From the first kickoff of football season to the last pitch of softball season, Texas Tech provided excellence on every field, court and diamond. The Red Raiders’ biggest achievement of the year was winning the national championship in men’s track and field, solidifying their status as a powerhouse across the board. But the story does not end there.

The men’s basketball team made an exciting run to the Final Four, defeating perennial powerhouses before falling short in a tightly contested quarterfinal. On the women’s side, the Red Raiders softball team emerged as one of the sport’s top, cruising through Lubbock regional play and qualifying for the Women’s College World Series for the first time in over a decade.

Football also provided a season to remember. Under head coach Joey McGuire, the Red Raiders won nine games and won convincingly in the Alamo Bowl, enhancing the program’s national profile. Combined with top-25 finishes in various Olympic sports, including baseball, golf, and volleyball, Texas Tech had a campaign unlike any other university.

“This is about more than just wins and trophies,” said Texas Tech Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt. “This year showcased the depth of our athletic department, the resilience of our student-athletes, and the incredible support from Red Raider Nation. We’ve set a new standard for excellence.”

Fans in Lubbock and beyond are celebrating a historic achievement that has been decades in the making. Texas Tech, formerly regarded as a perpetual underdog, has reversed the narrative, becoming a national emblem of consistency, competition, and championship culture.

With elite recruiting classes on the horizon and momentum building, West Texas’ future appears brighter than ever. One thing is certain: the Red Raiders are no longer knocking on the door; they have kicked it wide open.

In a year filled with remarkable moments, Texas Tech didn’t just win games. They made sports history.
