To the LSU Women’s Basketball Team, Our Devoted Fans, and the Entire LSU Community
Dear LSU family,
As I sit down to compose this letter, my heart is full with thankfulness. From the time I landed in Baton Rouge, I knew I was in for something amazing. But what I didn’t realize was how profound, powerful, and life-changing this adventure would become. Today, I’d like to thank you—for your love, belief, and unflinching support during this chapter of my life.
To my players, you are the heart of our program. You’ve trusted me to guide, challenge, push, and love you. Your devotion, fire, and resilience have impressed me more than words can say. Whether we were cutting down nets in celebration or overcoming adversity, you demonstrated to the world what it means to wear “LSU” on your chest: pride, purpose, and a courageous heart. You’ve helped this program become a national powerhouse, and you’ve carried on this great university’s tradition with grace and grit.
To our fans: wow. You have shown up in every way possible. You filled the PMAC with a noise that might rattle the walls. You traveled long distances to support us in all arenas. You inspired us with your songs, signs, purple and gold, and unwavering energy. You have transformed LSU women’s basketball into more than just a squad; you have created a movement. And I am so glad to report that we accomplished this together.
Thank you to the LSU administration, athletic department, and great support staff for establishing an environment in which success is not only expected, but encouraged. You’ve given me the tools and freedom to lead in my own voice and create a culture based on toughness, accountability, and love. It’s a unique and great experience to feel both challenged and supported, and I’ve had it every day here.
To our players’ families, thank you for sharing your daughters with me. I understand what trust means, and I don’t take it lightly. Watching these young women develop into confident leaders, competitors, and role models has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.
Finally, to the larger LSU community: this is about more than basketball. This is about pride, tradition, and the unbreakable relationship that unites us all. You welcomed me back to Louisiana and provided me the opportunity to create something lasting, daring, and true to who we are as Tigers.
I will never stop being thankful. I will never stop pushing for this program, these women, and this amazing university. LSU is in my blood—and will be eternally in my heart.
With love and Tiger pride,
Coach Kim Mulkey
