The trio—each having etched their names into Red Raider lore—announced the formation of the “West Texas QB Legacy Initiative,” a groundbreaking mentorship and development program designed to elevate the next generation of quarterbacks, both at Texas Tech and across the state. The initiative will be headquartered at the new $50 million training facility funded by Jacob Rodriguez and set to open in phases starting this fall.
“This is about giving back and building forward,” said Mitch Griffis, who recently made headlines for turning down multi-million-dollar offers to stay loyal to the Red Raiders. “We’ve all walked different paths, but we’re united by one goal: pushing Texas football to a new level—starting with Tech.”
The initiative will focus on year-round QB development, including elite-level clinics, one-on-one mentorship, mental performance coaching, film breakdown sessions, and community engagement. In a bold move, the program will also open select opportunities to high school quarterbacks across Texas, making it not just a Red Raider asset, but a statewide pipeline for talent and leadership.
