Washington, D.C. — Jayden Daniels Pens Heartfelt Open Letter to Commanders Community

In a moment of reflection and gratitude, Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has released an open letter addressed to the team, its passionate fan base, and the entire Commanders community. The letter, described by many as “epochal”, captures Daniels’ deep appreciation for the unwavering support he received during his first year in the NFL and acknowledges the powerful impact of a nurturing football environment on his growth—both personally and professionally.

Daniels, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, quickly became a fan favorite with his poise, leadership, and explosive playmaking ability. Throughout his debut season, he exhibited maturity beyond his years and showed flashes of the franchise quarterback Washington has long sought. But beyond the stats and on-field performances, Daniels highlighted the love, belief, and support shown by the Commanders’ faithful as the real driving force behind his success.

> “From the moment I arrived in D.C., I felt the energy, the passion, and the belief in me—not just as a quarterback, but as a person,” Daniels wrote. “You welcomed me with open arms, and for that, I’m forever grateful.”

In the letter, Daniels gave a special shoutout to the coaching staff, team veterans, and front office for creating an enabling environment that allowed him to learn, lead, and grow. He also acknowledged his teammates for embracing him as a leader, despite his youth, and for pushing him to bring his best every day.

> “This city and this team made me better—not just as a football player, but as a man. Thank you for giving me the space to grow, the tools to lead, and the love to keep going,” he added.

The quarterback also expressed gratitude to Commanders fans for standing by him through the ups and downs of his rookie year. From deafening cheers at FedExField to words of encouragement on social media, Daniels said the fanbase gave him strength during the most challenging moments of the season.

His message ends with a promise: “I’m just getting started. I will give everything I have to this team, this city, and to all of you who believe in me. The best is yet to come.”

The open letter has already made waves across the NFL community, signaling not only Daniels’ maturity but also his commitment to helping lead a cultural and competitive renaissance in Washington.

With Daniels under center and the city behind him, the Commanders look toward a promising new chapter in their storied franchise history.
