Dear Vancouver,
As I take time to think on everything that has happened on this journey, this letter, though long delayed, comes directly from my heart.
The instant I put on the Canucks sweater for the first time, I felt the weight of a city’s dreams and the warmth of a family I had no idea I needed. And today, I’d like to offer what words can only begin to convey: my heartfelt appreciation. To the Vancouver Canucks organization, devoted fans, and the whole Canucks community, you have been my foundation, strength, and driving force in shaping me into the man and player I am today.
When I arrived in Vancouver as a young guy with a dream, I was unsure what to anticipate. But the first time I stepped onto the ice at Rogers Arena, I felt something special. I sensed your love. Your belief. Your unflinching loyalty, even when times were bad. You never left me alone to face every ambition, setback, achievement, and heartache. You carried me.
To the fans: your enthusiasm is beyond anything I’ve ever witnessed. Whether the puck fell in October or April, whether we were chasing the playoffs or facing adversity, you brought passion and heart to every situation. Your applause, placards, and belief meant the world to me. I have read your messages. I’ve seen you standing outside in the cold for a wave, a photo, or a signature. I felt your energy vibrate through Rogers Arena’s walls. I’ll never forget it.
To my teammates, coaches, trainers, and staff, you’ve become my second family. You saw me at my finest and supported me at my lowest. You helped me develop not only as a player, but also as a person. I’ve been fortunate to share the locker room with some wonderful men—warriors, brothers, and real rivals. The friendships we formed here are permanent.
Thank you to the Canucks organization for believing in me—for supporting me, pushing me, and giving me the opportunity to be more than just a scorer. You provided me with a platform, a purpose, and a home. Thank you for allowing me to represent this jersey, city, and culture.
And to the city of Vancouver: you accepted me as your own. You have shown me beauty, diversity, humility, and heart. Every day, you reminded me of the importance of playing for something greater than yourself.
I’m not sure what the next chapter will bring, but I do know that Vancouver will forever be carved in my soul. I shall carry your colors in my blood and your shout in my heart no matter where this adventure leads me.
