Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy among golfers in indoor, high-tech league playing in South Florida soon
The Tomorrow Golf League (TGL), co-founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, launched its inaugural season on January 7, 2025, at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. This innovative indoor golf league combines virtual and real-life play, featuring six teams of top PGA Tour players competing in a high-tech arena.
In the opening match, The Bay Golf Club, comprising Ludvig Åberg, Shane Lowry, and Wyndham Clark, secured a 9-2 victory over New York Golf Club’s Xander Schauffele, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Rickie Fowler. The event showcased unique elements, including a large screen simulator, a rotating green, and gamified features like a 40-second shot clock and the “hammer” rule, which allows teams to double the value of a hole.
Woods and McIlroy, although not competing in the first match, were present to support the launch. Woods expressed his excitement, stating, “It’s not traditional golf, yes, but it is golf. And that’s the main thing.”
The TGL season runs from early January to early March, with matches broadcast on ESPN. The league aims to modernize golf and attract a younger audience by integrating technology and entertainment into the sport. Future matches are highly anticipated, especially those featuring Woods and McIlroy
