An Epochal Open Letter by Jack Hughes to the New Jersey Devils, Fans, and the Entire Devils Community
Dear New Jersey Devils Organisation, Fans, and Community.,
As I reflect on our remarkable trip this year, I am filled with gratitude, pride, and a strong sense of belonging. This open letter is my way of thanking everyone who helped make the past year one of development, achievement, and wonderful memories.
Thank you to the New Jersey Devils organisation for believing in me and providing me with the opportunity to accomplish what I love most. Your belief in my abilities as a player has been critical to my growth. From the coaching staff, who push me to be better every day, to my teammates, who have become like family, this team is more than just a collection of professionals—it’s a brotherhood. I am happy to wear the Devils’ crest and fight with you all on the rink.
You, our great fans, are the franchise’s heartbeat. Your unfailing support, whether at home games, away arenas, or through innumerable messages on social media, motivates me and the entire team. Walking onto the ice and hearing the roar of the fans at Prudential Centre is an experience that words cannot properly describe. You’ve stuck with us through both highs and lows, and your faith in us makes every practice, game, and goal worthwhile. Thank you for your enthusiasm, energy, and constant encouragement.
This past year has been a voyage of personal development, not just as a player. Every struggle has served as an opportunity to learn, and every setback has provided an opportunity to recover stronger. Throughout it all, I’ve had constant support from this community. You’ve given me the confidence to exceed my limitations and strive for perfection, not just for myself, but for everyone who supports us.
To the Devils Community, your dedication to creating an environment of support and solidarity is absolutely remarkable. The way this organisation and its followers support not just the players but also the larger good—through charitable work, community engagement, and endeavours to make a positive difference—is amazing. It’s an honour to be a part of something bigger than the game and to represent a squad that sees the big picture.
As we move ahead to the future, I want to assure you that my commitment to this team, this community, and our common aims will never wane. We’ve accomplished so much together, yet there’s still much more to do. I’m more determined than ever to deliver success and glory to the Devils organisation, as well as to continue leaving a legacy that we can all be proud of.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this great adventure. Your love, support, and belief mean everything to me. Let us continue to move forward together, one goal, one game, and one season at a time.
