An Open Letter from Connor Hellebuyck to the Winnipeg Jets Community
To the amazing fans, dedicated teammates, and every single person that makes up the heart and soul of the Winnipeg Jets family—
From the moment I put on the Jets sweater, I knew I was entering something unique. I was a young goaltender with huge goals, and what I discovered in Winnipeg was much more than simply a hockey team—it was a home, a family, and a community that welcomed me with open arms.
This city, with its profound love of the game and unyielding devotion, became the spot where my professional path finally took off. Every night at the Canada Life Centre, I felt your spirit. Your shouts, your belief, and your will to stand by us—win or lose—have never gone forgotten. I cannot express how beneficial that has been to me as a player and as a person.
Thank you to the Jets organization for believing in me. You provided me with a platform to grow, compete at the greatest level, and continually strive for perfection. From the front office to the training staff, I’ve had the privilege of working with people that are passionate about the crest on our chests and the culture we’ve created together.
My teammates, both past and present, have been like brothers to me. We’ve stood tall in the face of adversity, celebrated amazing victories, and supported one another after difficult losses. Being in the crease with you battling in front of me has been the most rewarding experience of my career.
Beyond the ice, the city of Winnipeg has captured my heart. The true politeness of the people, the smiles at the grocery store, the children who aspire to don Jets shirts someday—this is a place that breathes hockey while still valuing humanity. I’ve matured as a guy here. I’ve developed lifetime friendships here. And I’ve evolved into more than simply a hockey player; I’ve become a part of something greater.
As I look on everything we’ve accomplished together, I’m filled with pride and appreciation. These experiences, from All-Star Games to playoff runs, personal milestones to shared celebrations, are carved in my soul.
I’m not sure what the future holds for me, but one thing is certain: Winnipeg will always remain a part of my life. No matter where this game takes me, this community has shaped me into the person I am today. Thank you for letting me develop, fail, succeed, and dream.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the love, commitment, and legacy. It has been an honor to serve as your goaltender.
With gratitude and Jets pride always.
Connor Hellebuyck (#37)
