An Epochal Open Letter from Liam Everts to the MX2 Class, Fans, and the Whole Motocross Community
To my fellow riders, fans, and the always-passionate motocross family,
As I sit back and reflect on the path that has led me to this point, my heart is filled with immense appreciation. I write this letter with deep emotion and respect to thank each and every one of you – the MX2 class, our global fans, and the entire motocross community — for your love, support, and unshakable belief in my career throughout the years.
Motocross is more than just a sport. This is a way of life. It’s about grit, falling and getting back up, the sound of the engine, and the quiet minutes of concentration behind the starting gate. Growing up in a family with a strong motocross heritage, with my father and grandfather setting the way, put a lot of pressure on me, but it also gave me support. And from the outset, it wasn’t simply my family that supported me. It was all of you.
To my fellow MX2 competitors, you have pushed me to my boundaries, challenged me to grow, and encouraged me to go deeper. Whether we were racing for the podium or sharing looks of respect in the paddock, every time with you shaped the rider and person I am today. There is a special bond amongst those of us who have the same dirt and desires.
To the fans, your enthusiasm has been amazing. From the youngest child holding a banner on race day to the lifetime supporters cheering from all across the world, I’ve felt your presence in every part of the planet. You encouraged me during difficult periods and celebrated with me following wins. Every message, chant, and handshake meant the world.
To the larger motocross community — organizers, mechanics, team personnel, journalists, and volunteers — you have created an atmosphere in which athletes may develop, prosper, and strive for excellence. You’ve nurtured not only my talent, but my character. You made this sport a home for me.
I have grown as a result of your faith in me, through injury setbacks, breakthrough moments, and everything in between. You have allowed me to write my own chapter in the Everts legacy — not just as a name, but as a man determined to honor the sport. As I continue my journey — with new goals and mountains to climb — please know that your support has never gone unnoticed. I carry it with me into every race, turn, and finish line. Thank you for letting me be a part of it.
