An Epochal Open Letter from Head Coach Luke Fickell To the Wisconsin Badgers Faithful and the Entire Penguins Community
Dear Wisconsin Badger Fans, Penguins Family, and Supporters Near and Far,
As I take a moment to look back on this past year, I’m overwhelmed with a deep sense of appreciation. It has been a season marked by growth, resilience, and community—fueled by the energy of two incredible programs that have helped shape me both as a coach and as a person.
To the Wisconsin Badgers family, thank you for your unwavering support and loyalty. From the first time I walked into Camp Randall, I felt the power of your tradition—the deep-rooted pride that runs through every chant, every tailgate, every fourth-quarter stand. You welcomed me, my family, and this coaching staff with open arms. You believed in our vision and gave us the encouragement to pursue excellence. Whether through challenges or triumphs, your belief has never wavered—and for that, I am truly grateful.
To the Penguins community, where my coaching roots run deep: thank you for continuing to stand by me and celebrate this journey. Youngstown State played a critical role in my career, offering me my first opportunities to grow and learn as a leader. That foundation of grit, integrity, and community-first football still lives in everything I do. I carry that blue-collar spirit with me every time I step on the field.
I am incredibly humbled to have had the privilege of serving in two communities that embody loyalty, toughness, and tradition. Your support has created an environment that fosters growth—not just in wins and losses—but in character, leadership, and family. You’ve allowed me to push forward, to lead fearlessly, and to shape the next generation of men who represent these great programs.
To our players, staff, and extended families—thank you for trusting in our process. Thank you for fighting together, for lifting one another up, and for making every day count. This is a team effort in every sense of the word, and our mission continues with even greater purpose.
As we look ahead, know that my
