The Texas A&M Aggies are about to start one of the most ambitious, daring, and grueling football schedules in college football history in 2025. Everything is larger in Texas. The Aggies’ path to title contention will be paved with a minefield of national powerhouses due to the SEC’s expansion and the removal of divisions. For good cause, analysts are already referring to it as a “never-before-seen gauntlet.”

Texas A&M is embarking on a new era of expectations under head coach Mike Elko. Following a successful 2024 season, the Aggies will face more challenges than ever in 2025 thanks to a schedule full with playoff candidates, bitter rivalries, and demanding travel.

The season begins on August 30 with the highly anticipated matchup versus Notre Dame in Arlington, a neutral-site matchup between two storied programs with fervent supporter bases. In what is anticipated to be a very close race in the SEC, this type of opener could either start a playoff campaign or deal an early setback.

From then, things don’t get any simpler. The Aggies will play the Arizona Wildcats, who are now in the Big 12, in Week 2 at Kyle Field. They will then play the always dangerous UTSA Roadrunners in a difficult in-state game. The actual test follows.

Texas A&M begins an eight-week SEC stretch in Week 4 that has never been as challenging in the program’s history. Georgia and LSU, two teams that qualified for the 2024 College Football Playoff, will play back-to-back home games after the first trip to The Swamp to play Florida. After playing Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa in the middle of the season, the Aggies quickly go on to play Oklahoma, Tennessee, and South Carolina.

The constancy of this timetable is what makes it unique, not just the names. Texas A&M will play at least six teams that are predicted to start the season in the AP Top 15, in addition to three more that have the potential to cause significant upsets. No FCS filler, no breather, and no easy way out. There is a conflict every week.

During SEC Media Days, Coach Elko declared, “There is no question about it, this schedule is a beast.” But in order to compete on the biggest stage, our lads traveled to College Station. We will be prepared to win the entire tournament and be battle-hardened if we make it through this ordeal.

The Aggies are now facing their most difficult task to date, a historic journey that could change Texas A&M football for years to come, thanks to talent, perseverance, and the 12th Man.
