Texas A&M’s September 13 visit to Notre Dame is ranked ninth among the top 10 games to watch in the 100 days leading up to Week 0 of the 2025 college football season, according to ESPN.
It will be a rematch of the season opener from the previous year, in which the Fighting Irish defeated Kyle Field 23–13 after silencing the 12th Man.
Notre Dame relied on their run game, which had been a strength all season, to win the game with a touchdown from Jeremiyah Love with less than ten minutes remaining, with the score tied 13–13.
The seasons of the two clubs thereafter took radically opposite turns.
Texas A&M finished the season with a 1-6 record after winning their next seven games but losing four of their last five.
One of the biggest upsets in recent memory occurred when the Irish lost to Northern Illinois after defeating A&M. They soon bounced back, though, winning 13 in a row to advance to the National Championship before losing to Ohio State.
This season’s showdown is anticipated to be between rated clubs, much like last year. The fact that it will officially start off on a night adds even more drama to what is sure to be one of the season’s best games.
The Aggies will have an arduous schedule that starts with the Notre Dame game. The teams that A&M will face are Florida, LSU, South Carolina, and Texas; by the time of the game, these teams may be ranked.
To ensure that it enters South Bend as a ranked team, A&M must first take care of its business against Utah State and UTSA in weeks one and two.
