I see everyone who has been with me since the beginning, as well as those who joined as the light began to shine through.
You’ve been with me through the highs and the lows, the spectacular performances and the tragic losses. Your loyalty is not only appreciated; it is woven into the very fabric of my path. From the minute I put on the Oilers shirt, I realized I wasn’t simply joining a team; I was becoming a member of a family bound together by decades of grit, pride, and unflinching loyalty.
You’ve made me braver. Every cheer from the fans, every post on social media, and every chant that echoes during our home games inspires me. You have made me stronger. In the worst moments—when injuries occurred, critics were loud, and the route forward appeared uncertain—your trust reminded me of who I am. And you’ve given me more determination than ever. Because it isn’t just about goals and assists. It is about legacy. It’s about demonstrating how belief, passion, and solidarity can propel a community to greatness.
There were times when the strain was enormous—wearing the “C” on my chest felt heavier than the puck. But then I recall the tiny Richmond Hill lad who fantasized about these experiences. I recall why I started. And I remember that I am not doing this alone.
My teammates, past and present, are my brothers. We’ve bled together, fought together, and matured together. And thank you to the coaching staff, trainers, front office, and everyone behind the scenes for shaping this journey in ways that words cannot express.
To my family, thank you for your sacrifice, patience, and undying faith. And to every fan reading this, whether you’ve been with me since Erie or you only recently discovered your passion for hockey, this is your journey as well.
When I rise, I rise beside you. Every victory, record, each inch closer to the Cup—we share it. And when that time comes—when we eventually raise it high above our heads in front of a sea of blue and orange—I’ll be thinking about all of you.
Thank you for being my strength, fire, and reason.
With Love and Pride,
Connor McDavid
