East Lansing, Michigan— Michigan State University continues to establish its imprint on the national basketball stage, with standout player Grace VanSlooten and Head Coach Robyn Fralick chosen to represent USA Basketball at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup. It’s a historic accomplishment not only for the individuals but also for the entire MSU women’s basketball team—a time of pride, progress, and hope.

The FIBA AmeriCup, which will take place later this summer, features top talent from the Americas and acts as a major qualifier for global championships such as the FIBA Women’s World Cup and the Olympics. With VanSlooten named one of the team’s best players and Fralick hired as a coach, Team USA adds two of the Big Ten’s brightest to its already elite squad.

VanSlooten, a former five-star prospect who transferred to MSU before the 2024-25 season, has lived up to her full potential in green and white. A strong force in the paint and an underappreciated leader on the court, she averaged a double-double this season and quickly established herself as one of the Big Ten’s most difficult opponents. Her selection to the AmeriCup roster reflects her development, grit, and high-level skill set.

“It’s surreal,” VanSlooten explained. “Wearing USA across my chest has always been a dream, and to do it while representing Michigan State and Coach Fralick makes it even more special.”

The AmeriCup accolade, according to Head Coach Robyn Fralick, is another milestone in what has become a spectacular chapter in MSU basketball history. Fralick has quickly raised the program since his arrival in East Lansing, thanks to a clear vision, exceptional player development, and a culture that values hard work and accountability. Her inclusion on the national team’s coaching staff is well-deserved recognition of her tactical acumen and leadership.

“To coach for USA Basketball is an incredible honor,” Fralick added. “What makes it even more important is doing it with Grace. This chance reflects what we’ve accomplished at MSU—and what is ahead.”

As the 2025 AmeriCup approaches, all eyes will be on Team USA, and with VanSlooten in the lineup and Fralick on the bench, Michigan State will be well represented on the world scene. Go Green, go USA!
