To the city of San Diego, the Padres organization, my teammates, and every loyal fan—

I felt something special from the moment I stepped onto the Petco Park field: a sense of purpose, belonging, and family. Today, when I reflect on this great experience, I am filled with appreciation. This letter is a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has traveled this journey with me, through the highs, lows, successes, and learning experiences.

Thank you, Padres organization, for believing in me before the rest of the world knew my name. You offered a little youngster with passion and fire in his heart a platform to shine. You provided more than just a roster place; you gave me the opportunity to become the player I aspired to be and the man I continue to strive to be. From the front office to the coaching staff, trainers, and everyone in between, your encouragement, patience, and belief have been pillars of my development.

Thank you, teammates, for being my brothers. You’ve cheered my accomplishments and supported me when I faltered. In this clubhouse, I’ve discovered more than a team; I’ve found a family. We’ve struggled under the bright lights and blazing sun, carrying the dreams of a city that lives and breaths baseball. I’ve benefited from your leadership, relied on your strength, and been motivated by your enthusiasm.

And to the fans—oh, the fans. You are the driving force behind everything we accomplish. Every cheer heard across the stadium, every sign hoisted high, and every jersey bearing my name propelled me. Your love was loud, and your faith in me was much louder. You supported me through every bat flip, outfield dive, and, yes, even the difficult lessons and trials. You never let me forget why I play this game: for the enjoyment, connection, and community it fosters.

San Diego, you embraced me with open arms. You watched me develop, stumble, rise, and persevere. You offered me grace when I needed it the most, and you allowed me to express my passion, heritage, and spirit via the game I like. You have helped shape not only the athlete, but also the person I am today.

This is not a farewell; rather, it is a love letter to a city and people that have altered my life. No matter where the road leads me, I’ll always have a piece of San Diego in my heart. You provided me with a platform, a purpose, and a home.

Thank you for these memories. Thank you for your affection. Thank you for believing.

With my whole heart,
Fernando Tatís Jr.,
