East Lansing, Michigan. Michigan State player Grace VanSlooten and Team USA rallied from behind to overcome Brazil 92-84 on Sunday night in Santiago, Chile, to claim the 2025 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup title.
With the victory, the USA secured a spot in the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup in Berlin. The triumph was the fifth FIBA AmeriCup title in program history, and Team USA has now won three of the previous four Women’s AmeriCup championships. Team USA moves to 4-6 versus Brazil and 42-9 overall in the AmeriCup.
VanSlooten came off the bench to score eight points and four rebounds in the gold medal game. She finished the game with the best plus/minus rating on the squad, at +19. VanSlooten appeared in every game of the tournament, scoring a tournament-high 12 points against Mexico during the group round.
