As I sit down to think on this great experience, I am overcome with emotion and thankfulness. My time as the Miami Hurricanes’ quarterback was more than just a chapter in my football career; it was a watershed moment in my personal life. None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support, faith, and love that I have received from all of you.
When I first came in Coral Gables, I was a kid with huge goals, a chip on my shoulder, and something to prove. You accepted, challenged, and believed in me every day, pushing me to become the leader and man I am today. The kindness of this community, the program’s tradition, and the expectations that come with putting “The U” on your chest all had a tremendous impact on me.
To Coach Mario Cristobal and the coaching staff, thank you for entrusting me with the keys to this offense and challenging me to rise above the noise. You held me accountable when I needed it the most and reminded me that greatness is not simple to achieve; it requires grit, sacrifice, and unshakable team belief. You did not merely coach me. You coached me, motivated me, and helped develop my understanding of what leadership genuinely entails.
I love you, my locker room brothers. You are my family. From the early morning lifts to the high-pressure moments on the field, we created something special together. We established friendships based on loyalty, trust, and heart, not just wins and defeats. No matter where life takes us, I will always be proud to be one of you.
Thank you to the most passionate, vocal, and loyal supporters in college football for sticking with me through every snap, touchdown, error, and victory. Your enthusiasm on game days energized me. Your off-field assistance kept me grounded. Your love was unwavering, and I carried it with me through every huddle and play.
And to the city of Miami and the whole U community, thank you for creating an environment in which I could dream big and achieve even more. You provided me with more than just a platform to showcase my talents. You provided me a home. A culture. A brotherhood.
As I move forward in my job, I keep the U in my heart. I carry the lessons, memories, grief, and triumphs—all of it. This is not our final goodbye. It’s simply, “See you later.”
