Former University of North Carolina basketball standout Brad Daugherty has announced his next career move, joining the NBA on NBC broadcast team for the 2025–26 season. Daugherty shared the news on social media, expressing his enthusiasm:

“Thrilled to announce I’m joining the @NBAonNBC team for the 2025-26 season. I’m pumped for this next step in the journey, and more hoops!”

Daugherty, a 7-foot center, played four seasons under legendary coach Dean Smith at UNC during the mid-1980s. In his senior year (1985–86), he averaged 20.2 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, earning consensus All-American honors and a second-time All-ACC First Team selection. He was selected first overall in the 1986 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he spent his entire eight-season NBA career, averaging 19.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game and earning five All-Star selections.

 

In addition to his new role with NBC, Daugherty will continue as the lead Cleveland Cavaliers analyst for the FanDuel Sports Network, maintaining his strong connection to the franchise where he made his mark as a player.

 

Daugherty’s move to NBC marks a significant addition to their NBA coverage, bringing his extensive experience and deep understanding of the game to a national audience. His transition from the court to the broadcast booth continues his lifelong dedication to basketball, offering fans insightful analysis and commentary rooted in his rich playing history.
