From the moment I went onto the ice in blue and orange, I realized this was more than a team; it was a family, a city, and a heartbeat. Now, as I think on my time with the Oilers, I feel compelled to offer something very personal: my heartfelt appreciation.
Edmonton, you gave me more than a jersey and a locker room. You made me believe. You gave me room to grow, space to stumble, and the strength to rise. You trusted me to lead. You supported me through the difficult nights and lifted me even higher on the memorable ones. From rookie to captain, every step I took on the Rogers Place rink was led by your unfailing support.

To the Oilers organization, thank you for believing in a little kid from Richmond Hill, Ontario, and providing me the opportunity to represent this team at the greatest level. The coaching staff, trainers, front office, and ownership have never ceased investing in my growth as a player and a person. Every season, you’ve upped the bar and called for more—not with pressure, but with conviction. That belief has shaped the competitor I am today.
Thank you to my former and present colleagues for the battles, laughter, leadership, and brotherhood. We’ve experienced the highs of playoff victories as well as the lows of losing, but we’ve grown together throughout it. You have made this journey significant. Wearing the ‘C’ was never a burden; rather, it seemed like a badge of honor because of you.
To the fans, you are the heartbeat of our city and team. You’ve filled Rogers Place with thunder on chilly winter nights, shouted alongside us in the playoffs, and stood by us through every twist and turn. Your loyalty is unparalleled, and your enthusiasm is undeniable. You did more than simply cheer for me; you believed in me before I believed in myself. That type of love leaves an indelible mark.

To the Edmonton community, thank you for welcoming me. This city became your home not because of contracts or championships, but because of the love in your hearts. I grew up here. I’m more than just an athlete here. This city shaped who I am.
As we look ahead, my fire is still burning. The dream remains: to bring the Stanley Cup back to Edmonton. We’ve come close, and I believe more than ever that our time has come. I am all in. For you. For us.
With affection, devotion, and eternal thanks,
Connor McDavid
