An Open Letter by John Frusciante
To the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, our amazing fans, and the whole Frusciante community,
There are times in life when words fail, when gratitude exceeds the limitations of language, and the weight of history forces introspection. It’s one of those moments.
I never envisioned the road that was ahead of me when I first took up a guitar and poured my heart and soul into music. Being a part of this band—not once, but twice—has been a privilege and a deep lesson in love, loss, and rebirth. The Red Hot Chilli Peppers have been more than simply a band to me; they have been my family, my musical brothers, and my creative sanctuary. Anthony, Flea, and Chad—through every note, jam session, silence, and victorious comeback, you have given me a space to be myself. Thank you for believing in me, challenging me, and always welcoming me home.
Our fans—whether you’ve been with us since Mother’s Milk or just discovered us—are the lifeblood of our music. Your acceptance of my playing, departures, returns, and ever-changing craft has been nothing short of incredible. The affection you have shown me throughout the years has sustained me in ways you may never completely understand. Your enthusiasm, open hearts, and willingness to let the music speak for itself have given me the space to develop.
And to the Frusciante community—those who’ve followed my path beyond the Peppers, who’ve dug into the depths of my solo work, electronic explorations, and all the creative landscapes in between—you are the ones who genuinely understand the essence of artistic discovery. Thank you for listening with open ears and thoughts. You’ve created an environment in which music is felt, not simply heard, and artistic creativity is unrestricted.
Music has been my guiding force, my means of connecting with the universe, and my most authentic form of communication. And in that way, we are all connected—via music, energy, and shared memories that transcend time.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you. The trip continues.
With Love,
John Frusciante
