Magical Family Getaway at Europa-Park & Rulantica – 4 Unforgettable Nights at Krønasår!
When it comes to planning a family holiday that delights every member—young or old—it can be a challenge to strike the perfect balance between thrill, relaxation, and comfort. But our recent trip to Europa-Park and Rulantica, staying at the Hotel Krønasår for four nights, turned out to be exactly that: a seamless blend of adventure, magic, and core memories that we’ll treasure for years.
Booking and Budget: Early Planning Pays Off
We made our reservation in November of the previous year, taking advantage of Europa-Park’s early booking discount. For four nights at the Krønasår hotel, with park tickets included for three days at Europa-Park and one day at Rulantica, the total came to around €1700 for our family of four (two adults and two children aged 4 and 7). Considering the level of quality and the breadth of experiences we had, this was excellent value for money.
The Hotel Krønasår: A Perfect Base
We chose to stay at Hotel Krønasår, which is themed like a natural history museum crossed with a Nordic explorer’s lodge. From the moment we walked into the grand lobby, we were met with towering dinosaur skeletons, oversized globes, and rich wooden decor that set the tone for a magical stay. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the check-in process was smooth.
One concern I initially had was about the shuttle bus to and from Europa-Park—I imagined long waits and crowded transfers. In reality, the shuttles were prompt, ran regularly throughout the day, and took just a few minutes to reach the park gates. That convenience made getting back and forth with young kids an absolute breeze.
Breakfast & Dining: Surprisingly Relaxed
Another pleasant surprise was the hotel breakfast, which is served in a large and open dining area. I worried it might feel hectic or overwhelming, especially during peak times, but it was quite the opposite. We typically went around 8:30 to 9:00 AM, and it felt calm and comfortable. There was a wide variety of food options, from fresh pastries and fruits to eggs, sausages, cereals, and even Nordic-style smoked fish and cheeses.
We also enjoyed dining inside the park. A special mention goes to the Anniversary Burger at the Rock Café—hearty, flavorful, and served with live music that added to the lively vibe. For dessert lovers, don’t miss the Black Forest Gateau at Schloss Balthasar. They often run a Buy One, Get One Free cake offer between 3:30 PM and 5:00 PM (though this depends on the day, so look out for signs). Sitting in the sun with a slice of cake while people-watching was one of our simple joys.
Europa-Park: Magic Around Every Corner
We spent three full days at Europa-Park, and honestly, it still wasn’t enough to see and do everything. The park is incredibly vast and divided into beautifully themed areas representing various European countries. Each area has unique rides, food, and architecture that truly transports you—France, Greece, Switzerland, and more.
My husband is a thrill-seeker and had an amazing time on the big roller coasters like Silver Star and Blue Fire, while the kids and I enjoyed the more scenic and family-friendly rides. One standout for all of us was the Arthur ride, based on the “Minimoys” world. It’s a fantastic blend of indoor/outdoor coaster, storytelling, and gentle thrills that even our 4-year-old enjoyed.
Despite visiting over multiple days, we still didn’t get around to watching all the shows—there’s just so much to experience. But that’s part of Europa-Park’s charm; you never feel like you’re just queueing for rides. There are surprises, performances, and beautiful little details around every corner.
Rulantica: A Water World of Wonder
On our final full day, we headed to Rulantica, the water world adjacent to Europa-Park. I was a bit nervous about this part of the trip because our 4-year-old can’t swim and I was unsure if there would be enough for him to enjoy. I needn’t have worried.
The atmosphere was fun and super chilled out, with plenty of shallow play areas, gentle slides, and splash zones perfect for non-swimmers. Swim vests are available to borrow in various sizes, and our youngest had a blast just bobbing around one of the pool bars with a mocktail in hand. It was one of those moments that will stick with me forever—a true core memory.
The older child enjoyed the more adventurous areas, and the grown-ups appreciated the tropical ambiance, clean facilities, and clear safety signage throughout the complex.
Final Thoughts: Would We Go Back? Absolutely.
After four nights at Krønasår, three magical days at Europa-Park, and one splash-filled adventure at Rulantica, I can honestly say this was one of the best family vacations we’ve ever had. It had something for everyone: roller coasters, whimsical rides, great food, cultural immersion, live music, and even some relaxation.
Whether you’re a coaster junkie, a toddler-toting parent, or just someone craving a few days of high-quality escapism, Europa-Park and its resort hotels are hard to beat. We’re already talking about when we might return—and next time, we’ll try to stay even longer. If you’re on the fence about booking a trip: do it. You won’t regret it.
And if anyone has questions—shout. I’ll gladly talk about this magical place all day.
