Netflix has announced an upcoming eight-part docuseries that provides an unfiltered look into the 2024 Southeastern Conference (SEC) college football season. Scheduled for release in the summer of 2025, each 45-minute episode will offer behind-the-scenes access to coaches and players, highlighting key matchups and the inner workings of one of college football’s most dominant conferences.
However, Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian, along with coaches from several other prominent programs—including Georgia’s Kirby Smart, Alabama’s Kalen DeBoer, Ole Miss’ Lane Kiffin, and Oklahoma’s Brent Venables—opted not to participate in the series. Consequently, the Longhorns and these other teams will not be featured in the documentary.
The series is produced by Box to Box Films, the company behind successful sports documentaries like “Formula 1: Drive to Survive.” The SEC granted Netflix production crews access to 10 of its member schools throughout the 2024 season, aiming to showcase the conference’s intensity and the unique stories within its football programs.
While fans of the Texas Longhorns may be disappointed by their team’s absence, the docuseries promises to deliver an in-depth look at the participating SEC teams, capturing the drama, challenges, and triumphs that define college football in the South. The series is expected to appeal to both dedicated college football enthusiasts and general audiences, offering a comprehensive portrayal of the 2024 SEC season.
