INTERESTING NEWS: New Chinese national women’s volleyball team to debut in June……..see more…….The new Chinese national women’s volleyball team will make their debut at the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League, which is set to kick off in June with the opening games to be held in Beijing.
Hosting the Nations League marks the first time Beijing has hosted a top-tier international women’s volleyball event in 17 years since the 2008 Olympics.
The Beijing leg of the league will run from June 4 to 8 at the National Indoor Stadium, organizers said Thursday, while the series will continue until July. Besides the host China, five other teams – Belgium, Poland, France, Turkey, and Thailand – will also participate in this leg.
The Women’s Nations League features 18 teams this season, divided into three pools. Each team will play 12 matches in three weeks across different legs, earning points to qualify for the Nations League Finals as a top eight team in the league.
According to the schedule, the Chinese team will face Belgium on the evening of June 4, followed by matches against Poland, France, and Turkey. After the Beijing leg, the Chinese team will also participate in the Hong Kong leg and the Arlington leg in the US.
As the first international event of the Los Angeles Olympic cycle, the Beijing event will be the debut of the new Chinese women’s volleyball team on home soil. Zhao Yong, who took over as the head coach of the Chinese women’s national volleyball team in April, will also make his debut in this role.
During a previous training session, Zhao stated that to remain among the world’s top volleyball teams, the Chinese women’s volleyball team must adhere to its fast-paced and flexible playing style.
“The fast-paced and flexible playing style has always been the tactical approach of the Chinese women’s volleyball team,” Zhao said, before noting that the team will prepare for the Nations League based on this concept and implement it according to the status of the players.
The Volleyball Women’s Nations League is also a buildup for the Chinese national team, who is hoping to deliver a solid performance at the world championships in August.
The Volleyball Women’s Nations League, a top-level event under the FIVB, was previously known as the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Grand Prix.
Yuan Lei, vice chief of the Chinese Volleyball Association (CVA), said at a press conference on Thursday that the CVA has planned to host several other international volleyball competitions in China.
“The CVA, in cooperation with the FIVB, will hold the preliminary rounds and finals of the Volleyball Women’s Nations League and Volleyball Men’s Nations League in Beijing, Xi’an, and Ningbo,” he told reporters.
