JUST Now: Sunshine, Rollercoasters & a Cold Cruzcampo: Europa Park Dream Day Complete

There are days that feel like they’ve been plucked straight from a dream—stitched together from bright moments, shared laughter, and fleeting adrenaline rushes. Today was one of those days. JUST now, as I sit under the golden evening sun with a cold Cruzcampo in hand, I’m taking a breath and reflecting on what can only be described as a perfect day at Europa Park.

From the moment we passed through the park’s majestic entrance in Rust, Germany, it was clear: we were in for something special. Europa Park is more than an amusement park—it’s a miniature continent in itself. Each area pays homage to a different European country, blending architecture, food, and culture with thrills that challenge both your stomach and your nerves.

The sunshine greeted us like an old friend. The forecast had predicted scattered clouds, but instead, we were met with a flawless blue sky. The morning light danced on the rooftops of the “France” zone as we began our adventure. The air was filled with the sounds of excited chatter and distant screams from rollercoasters. A gentle breeze floated the scent of churros and bratwurst our way. Everything felt alive, as if the park itself knew today had to be unforgettable.

First up: Silver Star. Standing at a towering 73 meters and boasting a top speed of 130 km/h, it’s one of Europe’s tallest and fastest coasters. Just watching it from the queue ignited a nervous excitement in my chest. As we slowly climbed that first hill, I looked out over the lush landscape of Rust, tiny people moving below us, and just as I was about to let my nerves take over, we plunged. The drop was pure freedom—like gravity had no hold on us for a few fleeting seconds. We whooped, laughed, and clutched the safety bar like our lives depended on it. And we loved every second.

From there, it was a rollercoaster lover’s dream: Blue Fire, with its thrilling launch and upside-down twists; Wodan Timburcoaster, Europa Park’s wooden behemoth, roaring like a storm through sharp turns and tunnels. Each ride had its own personality—some were wild and aggressive, others smooth and hypnotic.

But Europa Park is more than just rollercoasters. One of the most magical moments came unexpectedly during a quiet walk through the Italy zone. There, tucked between a pizzeria and a small fountain, a trio of street performers played a hauntingly beautiful violin rendition of “Con Te Partirò.” For a moment, the park hushed. Strangers paused to listen, families gathered, and couples held hands. It was one of those scenes you never plan for but never forget.

Lunch was an experience in itself. We chose the Spain section, where the décor transported us to a rustic Andalusian village. Under the shade of terracotta rooftops, we ordered tapas and, of course, our first Cruzcampo of the day. That first sip—cold, crisp, slightly bitter with a whisper of malt—was everything we needed after hours in the sun. Paired with salty olives, patatas bravas, and grilled chorizo, it was a Mediterranean dream.

The afternoon heat arrived, but rather than slowing us down, it steered us toward the water rides. Atlantica Supersplash provided much-needed relief and a surprisingly intense drop. We got soaked, laughed until our stomachs hurt, and found ourselves dripping dry in the warm breeze minutes later.

As the day wore on, the park softened. The sounds mellowed, the light turned golden, and families began drifting toward the exits. But we stayed. There was no rush—no need to leave while the magic still lingered. We grabbed another Cruzcampo, found a spot near the Scandinavia harbor, and watched the boats drift lazily across the water.

Children laughed, the air smelled of cinnamon almonds and fried dough, and the sun slowly dipped behind the silhouette of the Eurosat coaster. Everything—the rides, the music, the flavor of cold beer, the sunshine that kissed our skin all day—it all came together like a symphony. Not loud or overwhelming, but complete. Just right.

Looking back, it’s not just the thrill rides that made the day memorable. It’s the in-between moments: holding hands in line, people-watching from shaded benches, getting lost between themed worlds that feel both foreign and familiar. It’s the way Europa Park makes you feel like you’ve taken a whirlwind European vacation without ever leaving Germany.

And now, JUST now, as the last sliver of sunlight disappears and the lights around the park begin to twinkle like stars, I raise my glass. To sunshine, to rollercoasters, and to the perfect cold Cruzcampo—cheers to a dream day, complete.
