Arizona State Sun Devils head coach Kenny Dillingham has a message for the Arizona Cardinals regarding his best player, Cam Skattebo. Following the Sun Devils’ loss to the Texas Longhorns in the Peach Bowl on Wednesday, Dillingham requested that the Cardinals draft Skattebo in April. “Now if the Arizona Cardinals can just draft Cam so we can keep him home, that’d be awesome,” Dillingham told reporters.
If the Cardinals select Skattebo in the 2025 NFL Draft, he will share the backfield with James Conner, who has ran for over 1,000 yards this season. Conner, 29, is a two-time Pro Bowler who is signed with the Cardinals through the 2026 season.
Where will Cam Skattebo go in the NFL Draft? Cam Skattebo had an outstanding season in 2024, rushing for 1,711 yards and 21 touchdowns in 13 games for Arizona State. In the Peach Bowl, Skattebo carried for 143 yards and two scores, caught eight passes for 99 yards, and threw a touchdown pass.

CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso believes Skattebo could be picked in the third round. “Cam Skattebo is a stocky, power-packed running back with a stout build and tree-trunk legs, making him a force to bring down,” according to Trapasso. “His exceptional contact balance enables him to ricochet off defenders at any level of the field, regularly converting potential small gains into long runs.
“Skattebo is a deceptively powerful and bouncy runner capable of creating yards beyond what’s blocked, but his lack of breakaway speed limits his potential as a home run threat.” He’s a dependable, high-effort player who makes it difficult for teams to bring him down.
