Georgia football’s aggressive, championship-style style draws recruiters from all around the world. On Monday, the Bulldogs have acquired a four-star player over Alabama. Now Kirby Smart and colleagues are pursuing an NFL legend’s son.
Cooper Witten received an offer from the Bulldogs on Saturday while recruiting for college football. Fans of the Dallas Cowboys are accustomed to the last name. The renowned tight end Jason Witten is the father of the 2027 linebacker and safety. The son announced his new offer on X.
In addition, Witten included head coach Smart, who has won numerous national titles, in his offer. He names defensive analyst Bryson Allen-Williams and defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann as the ones who recruited him to Athens.
However, this also entails Georgia and Smart going after a Tennessee legacy recruit.
Witten wants the football, much like his father. But he’s hunting for the pigskin while on defense. Throughout the 2024 season, he caught five interceptions and returned two for touchdowns. In ’23, his rookie season, he also grabbed two picks, including one that he took to the end zone.
Additionally, Witten is a strong special team player. As a freshman, the 6-foot-1, 210-pound player blocked three field goals. He even scored a touchdown by returning a kick.
In terms of recruiting, Georgia is already producing outstanding outcomes. On Cinco de Mayo, five-star quarterback Jared Curtis choose the Bulldogs. On April 20, the Bulldogs also acquired Elo Modozie, a highly regarded Army transfer, through the college football transfer portal. The son of an NFL legend is now being prioritized for the class of 2027.
