On Tuesday afternoon, Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo was recognized for his team’s successful season.

On Tuesday, the National Association of Basketball Coaches honored Izzo the Great Lakes District’s Coach of the Year. This is Izzo’s second coach of the year award in the previous few weeks, following his win as Big Ten Coach of the Year last week.

Izzo guided Michigan State to the Big Ten Championship this year, and the Spartans easily won the league title. The Spartans finished the regular season 26-5 overall and 17-3 in Big Ten play, winning the league by three games.

Michigan State was selected to the NCAA Tournament for the 27th consecutive year, the longest active streak in college basketball. Michigan State is the tournament’s second seed and will face No. 15 Bryant in the first round on Friday night.
