Steve Sarkisian Provides Injury Updates on Texas QBs Quinn Ewers, Arch Manning, and Key Players
Austin, TX — Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian addressed the media on Monday, providing updates on the status of key players, including quarterbacks Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning, ahead of the team’s upcoming matchup.
Sarkisian revealed that Ewers, the starting quarterback, has made significant strides in his recovery from a shoulder injury that had raised concerns earlier in the season. “Quinn’s progress has been great,” said Sarkisian. “He’s been working hard with the medical staff and doing everything he can to get back to full strength. We expect him to be ready to play when it matters most.” Ewers was sidelined for a few games due to the injury but has been seen participating in practice, throwing passes with noticeable confidence.
Sarkisian also offered an update on the highly touted freshman Arch Manning, who has been navigating his first collegiate season as the backup QB. Although Manning has not seen significant game action, Sarkisian mentioned the importance of continued development and ensuring Manning is prepared for any situation. “Arch has shown tremendous growth in the limited reps he’s had. He’s learning a lot behind Quinn and is in a good place mentally. We’ll continue to bring him along at the right pace.”
Additionally, Sarkisian discussed the status of several other players recovering from injuries. The Longhorns’ offensive line has been dealing with some depth concerns, but Sarkisian was optimistic, noting that the group is slowly getting healthier. He mentioned that key players in the defensive backfield were also returning to form, which will be crucial as Texas prepares for the upcoming stretch of games.
“Every team goes through this during a season,” said Sarkisian. “It’s about being able to adjust and manage injuries. We feel good about where we are with the depth of our roster and the resilience of our guys. They’ve worked hard to put themselves in a position where we can have success as we move forward.”
With a critical set of games approaching, the Longhorns are hoping that the recovery of these key players will bolster their chances of continuing their championship aspirations in the Big 12 and beyond.
