Oxford, Mississippi — The softball world is officially on notice. The Ole Miss Rebels have snagged a generational talent, as Hannah Wells, the 2024-2025 Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year, has switched her commitment from Texas to Ole Miss, sending shockwaves through the recruiting world and reigniting excitement in Oxford.
Wells, a strong force on both sides of the ball, guided Coahoma High School to the 3A Division II Texas State Championship, finishing off a remarkable season with a stunning 35-1 record. She was the team’s undeniable heartbeat, displaying an unparalleled combination of power, poise, and pure competitive fire.
In the circle, Wells was almost untouchable. She had an astonishing 22-1 record, with a 0.44 ERA and 258 strikeouts. Her control, velocity, and ability to shut down elite lineups made her a terror for opposition batters. But Wells didn’t stop there; she was just as dangerous at the plate. She batted. 602, 75 RBIs, and 31 home runs set a Texas single-season record—an incredible achievement that puts her in elite company nationally.
