In a surprise turn of events, five-star wide receiver Jabari Mack has decommitted from Louisiana State University (LSU) and declared his commitment to the Texas Tech Red Raiders. This decision follows his initial promise to LSU on March 22, 2025.

Mack, a standout at Destrehan High School in Louisiana, is considered one of the best wide receivers in the 2026 recruiting class. Standing 6 feet 1 and weighing 200 pounds, he has shown versatility and skill on the field, making him a highly sought-after prospect.

Mack had official visits arranged at many universities before committing to LSU, including Ohio State, Texas A&M, Texas, and LSU. These visits were part of his process of determining the greatest match for his collegiate career.

The choice to switch his pledge to Texas Tech over other major programs such as the LSU Tigers and Arkansas Razorbacks drew notice from the college football community. While the particular reasons for his change of heart have not been revealed, it is clear that Mack sees a bright future with the Red Raiders.

Texas Tech’s coaching staff has been constantly recruiting top players to strengthen their team, and earning a commitment from a player of Mack’s ability demonstrates their efforts. Mack’s acquisition is expected to greatly improve the team’s offensive performance in the following seasons.

As the 2026 season approaches, all eyes will be on Jabari Mack to see how his skills translate to the collegiate level and how he helps the Texas Tech Red Raiders achieve success.
