TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –Mack Sutter commits to Alabama: four-star Illinois tight end picks Crimson Tide… See More…

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama Crimson Tide have added another major piece to their 2026 recruiting class, as four-star tight end Mack Sutter from Springfield, Illinois, announced his commitment to the Tide on Thursday.

Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 235 pounds, Sutter is ranked among the top 10 tight ends in the 2026 class by 247Sports and holds a national ranking inside the top 200 overall. A versatile athlete with elite size and ball skills, Sutter chose Alabama over offers from Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, and Illinois.

> “Alabama just felt like home,” Sutter said in his announcement. “The culture, the coaches, the way they develop tight ends—it all lined up with what I was looking for. It’s a place where I know I can compete at the highest level.”

Sutter had been on Alabama’s radar for over a year and received an offer following a standout performance at the Tide’s summer camp last year. He returned for an official visit earlier this month, which reportedly sealed the deal. Head coach Kalen DeBoer and tight ends coach Nick Sheridan made Sutter a top priority in the class, emphasizing how he’d be used in the Tide’s evolving offensive scheme.

> “Coach DeBoer made it clear how important the tight end position is to their offense,” Sutter said. “They see me as someone who can stretch the field, block in the run game, and be a red-zone weapon. That’s exactly how I want to play.”

At Sacred Heart-Griffin High School, Sutter posted 42 receptions for 715 yards and 10 touchdowns during his junior season, flashing the kind of athleticism and physicality that make him a matchup nightmare. His frame and catch radius have drawn comparisons to recent Alabama tight end success stories, and his ability to line up in-line, in the slot, or out wide adds significant value.

With Sutter now in the fold, Alabama continues to build a balanced 2026 class that features elite talent across all offensive positions. His commitment also marks a key recruiting win in the Midwest, a region where the Tide have worked to establish deeper connections in recent cycles.

> “It’s a blessing to be part of this class,” Sutter said. “I’m ready to go to work, represent Illinois, and bring my best to Tuscaloosa.”

Alabama fans can look forward to a dynamic new weapon in the coming years as Mack Sutter prepares to bring his size, skill, and toughness to the SEC spotlight.
