East Lansing, Michigan — Netflix has now released the long-awaited trailer for its latest sports documentary, “Spartan Blood: The Legacy of Michigan State Football.” The multi-part documentary delves at the rich history of Michigan State University’s football team, which is widely regarded as one of the NCAA’s most resilient powerhouses and a top-5 talent producer for the NFL.

The series, which premieres next month, promises to take viewers on an uncensored, passionate, and visual journey through decades of Spartan dominance—both on the field and in the hearts of fans throughout the country.

“This isn’t a typical football narrative. “It’s a story about grit, loyalty, transformation, and the Spartan spirit,” said showrunner and Emmy-winning producer Devon Fields, whose credits include The Last Dance and QB1: Beyond the Lights.

The trailer begins with a deafening scream from Spartan Stadium and immediately transitions between old game footage, teary-eyed alumni, and locker room statements resonating with raw passion. Legends like Kirk Cousins, Le’Veon Bell, Darqueze Dennard, and Plaxico Burress join current players and coaches to discuss what it means to wear the green and white.

Viewers can expect an intimate look at the program’s rise under coaches such as Duffy Daugherty, Nick Saban, and Mark Dantonio, as well as a candid discussion of the team’s struggles and scandals. The series also gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at current head coach Jonathan Smith’s efforts to revive a championship culture as the Spartans prepare for their next great season.

A particularly dramatic piece depicts a reunion of Spartan NFL alumni at a youth camp in Detroit, emphasizing Michigan State’s dedication to training not only athletes, but also leaders and community pillars.

“When you become a Spartan, you’re family for life,” says NFL All-Pro linebacker and MSU alum Greg Jones in the trailer. “We don’t just talk about legacy — we live it, we pass it on.”

The documentary includes never-before-seen locker room footage, exclusive player interviews, and compelling retellings of important events such as the 2013 Big Ten Championship, the 2015 College Football Playoff berth, and the notorious Trouble with the Snap game against Michigan.

Fans and commentators alike have already praised the film as “one of the most powerful football previews in recent memory,” and many have taken to social media to express their excitement. Within minutes after the trailer’s release, the hashtags #SpartanBlood and #NetflixSpartans began trending.
