“It means everything to be honored like this,” Fears Jr. remarked. “Being acknowledged for more than just basketball—for what I contribute to my education, my teammates, and the campus community—is what this is all about. I am honored to represent Michigan State and everything Coach Izzo and this university stand for.”

Fears Jr., a sports management and communications major, maintains an exceptional 3.91 GPA while handling a grueling Big Ten basketball schedule. Known for his leadership even as a freshman, his return to East Lansing for the 2025 season has sparked interest among Spartan fans and teammates alike.

On the court, Fears Jr. averaged 8.7 points, 5.2 assists, and 1.8 steals per game as a floor general with maturity beyond his years. Off the court, he is active in youth mentoring programs and college leadership courses and frequently talks at community events in Lansing and his birthplace of Joliet, Illinois.

His significance was not lost on the corporate world. Under Armour, a worldwide sports clothing company, has launched a groundbreaking NIL relationship with Fears Jr. that will feature branded goods, brand campaigns promoting academic-athletic balance, and grassroots basketball outreach projects. The arrangement is allegedly for seven figures and is anticipated to last the rest of his collegiate career.

“Jeremy Fears Jr. represents everything we value at Under Armour—performance, integrity, and purpose,” stated an Under Armour official. “We’re not just investing in an athlete; we’re partnering with a leader who’s shaping the future of sports and society.”
